I never want my newsletter pieces to seem like a product endorsement but lately I keep running into more folks being diagnosed with cancer.
As a reminder once Obamacare went into effect, insurance carriers were able to cover more than 30 million Americans who DID NOT have health care before. Even with insurance coverage more individuals were running into financial problems due to the prohibitive cost of cancer. NBC News shared cancer patients were 2.5 times as likely as others to file for bankruptcy.
I just met with a friend, yesterday, that was going to see her friend in the hospital as she had been diagnosed with cancer. I was so pleased to hear a local gal was just diagnosed cancer free after undergoing a rigorous regimen of chemo and radiation, and finally, another dear friend has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Insurance covers so much but what about the other things, now I sound like a TV commercial, like rent, food, the mortgage, and incidentals of traveling to maybe an MD Anderson for treatment?
For years I’ve been a subscriber of AFLAC for supplemental benefits. It’s a great product, but when I had the unfortunate opportunity to file a claim a couple of years ago (spiral fractured my tibia, broke my ankle and tore my tendon) I didn’t receive the benefits promised me. Since then, I was introduced to Family Heritage, A+ rating with AM Best (very important) with the parent company Torchmark Corporation (Stock Symbol: TMK) and the best part, local!
What sets them apart, the Return of Premium provision. If you are diagnosed with cancer, you want this benefit!!!! You need this benefit! But if you don’t use the benefit you get your money back.
Let me say it again, with the other cancer, accident and heart plans, they only make sense IF you get sick or hurt, right? That’s how insurance companies make money. I just needed to share with you, that I’ve purchased my policies from Family Heritage because it provided, in essence, a forced savings opportunity for me.
Cancer does not discriminate, and accidents happen. Protection is available! Give me a yell if you want more information.
